The Mysterious Man
Herman the Hermit has apparently been sheltering a mysterious man that claims he has some relics of long lost heroes. He offers these items to anyone that manages to find him, for a hefty price of course, I mean hey, even secretive shady people gotta make a living, right?
How To "Install"
1) Download the mods.zip file located here
2) Place mods.zip in the directory where you have LoY installed(mods.zip should be in the same folder as "legendsofyore.jar" and "loy-latest.jar" etc.
3a) If you know how, run the appropriate command:
-Windows
- Code: Select all
java -cp mods.zip;loy-latest.jar org.newdawn.touchapi.applet.TouchFrame
-Mac/Linux
- Code: Select all
java -cp mods.zip:loy-latest.jar org.newdawn.touchapi.applet.TouchFrame
Note: I don't use Mac OS or Linux so sorry if that's wrong x.x
3b) If you don't know how to run that command and are running Windows, download the batch file here, place the batch file in the same directory as mods.zip and run it.
3c) Sorry, I don't have an alternative for Mac/Linux. But really if you're running Linux you should know how to do it anyway, if you're using a Mac though, sorry =/
4) Enjoy the game, and ignore the console =p
My Original Plan
The end result of the mod is not quite what I'd hoped for, as far as the implementation of the items goes anyway. I had intended to make a boss for each item with their own special areas which players would have to find and then take down the bosses(planned to be "Ancient Heroes", enemies with Legend level stats using the set appearance, such as the Ancient Elf/Elven Hero for the Elven Ring) to get their hands on these alternate items. It is, however, not in my power to add new maps.(I can add new dungeon floors, and I can edit existing maps/zones, but not make new ones, which put an end to the idea).
Instead, the mod is a lot more boring and I've resorted to making a shop for the items, they're not exactly cheap, but I think the prices are fair for their levels and considering the bosses the player would have to face in the original idea I think it's balanced. Also, I suck at art in general, including spriting, so all of the items look kind've meh. 9 of the 10 items are just modifications of existing items, while one is made from scratch by me, whether that's for better or for worse, you decide.
Note: For players that don't want to bother finding the NPC(though it really shouldn't be all that hard given the information at the beginning about Herman) there's a text file included in the zip which will guide you to him.
If anyone has any questions about or problems with the mod, please post. Likewise with suggestions, etc etc =p
