No charge bar under the health bar?

I hope you haven't completely given up on the green pots and other charge recovery items.

Hi Kev,

Interesting!

It would (IMHO) look even better if you made the character image have a transparency mask when in this mode - like the quick slots yellow down button. Or, have the character image turn to greyscale. Or both.

Yeah, I'd like both of those. However, I've been staying away from transparency except for the D-PAD to maintain the retro theme. And the outline would mean another tile per character type - which seems like a lot of tileset.

Hi Kev,

If you don't want additional tiles then I suppose the other option is to do some dynamic graphics processing on the existing character tiles. For example, you could just convert the existing character tile to a grayscale version. Or do some fancy edge detect to get an outline of the character tile.

Not sure how easy that would be to do, but I'm sure you've already thought of these options.

...or have the character image blink. That would still be quite retro! And have some 'force field' type graphics around it since blinking images are not so good for taking snapshots of...
